Critical Security Infrastructure Power Resilience Upgrade

A planned test of the facility's mains-to-generator power transfer revealed a critical vulnerability: key security infrastructure, including panels and cameras, lacked a connection to the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), creating a risk during power transitions. G&W Contracts was engaged as the Principal Contractor to execute a swift remediation of this security exposure.

The project involved intricate electrical works within a live, high-security logistics environment. Our scope included forming new, fire-rated penetrations through compartment walls to route new power circuits. High-level electrical bracketry and containment was installed to support the new cabling, which was carefully pulled from the existing central UPS to the designated security panels distributed throughout the building. Direct power supply connections were also established for individual cameras where required, ensuring comprehensive coverage.

A critical focus was maintained on preserving the building's fire integrity; all new openings and service penetrations were meticulously fire-sealed upon completion of the cable installations. The entire project was delivered within the client's fully operational facility with zero disruption to logistics operations. This was achieved through a disciplined programme of daily coordination meetings, allowing for real-time planning and seamless integration with the client's security and operational management teams.
